My Lumberjack Hero!

While Valerie was eating her lunch yesterday, Micah was outside (look through the window!) chopping down a tree. Our backyard is lined with 4-5 kinds of trees, all of which probably looked nice and tidy when the house was built 19 years ago, but now there is no space for the trees to grow. In order for for them to be healthy, some have to go. Yesterday was the day for 3 of them... the biggest being this Mountain Ash...

Valerie kept eating (and "sharing") her lunch, while Micah kept chopping. Thankfully, a kind neighbor came over and loaned him a chainsaw! He took out two small deciduous trees after the Ash.Micah was still working on cleanup while I started dinner (homemade Split Pea Soup - my first time making it... yummy!). I went out to help him do some clean up, but unfortunately not all of the branches would fit in our yard waste bin! We've got a nice bit of firewood (for whenever we get that outdoor fire pit!) and a lot of branches still to clean up, but it was an awesome day! (The photo below doesn't even show all of it!) We hope you're enjoying a great start to the New Year!

Good Job Man! You haven't forgotten how to get rid of unwanted trees! :) The little bit I see of your yard looks awesome. We'll have to come up and visit soon. Love you lots, Steph

You mean the fire pit we have out at the barn? How about we bring it up, say about mid July when it's 90 outside??? Well, maybe sooner! Love, MOM
